A second drama pilot this season is making a major casting change with an actress getting promoted to a lead role after the table read in a recasting. Cynthia McWilliams, originally tapped for the series regular role of Tandi in the NBC pilot Love Is a Four Letter Word, will now play the female lead Julie. She replaces previously cast Meta Golding, who is leaving.
CBS’ medical drama pilot Code Black similarly recast the lead, with Marcia Gay Harden, originally cast in a supporting role, replacing Maggie Grace.
Love Is a Four Letter Word, from playwright-TV writer Diana Son, 20th TV and Fabrik, chronicles the collision of race, sexuality and gender roles when three diverse couples put modern marriage to the test.
