Cow Escapes Idaho Slaughterhouse Only To Get Shot By Police

POCATELLO, Idaho (CBS Seattle) – A cow that escaped from a slaughterhouse ran out of luck when it was gunned down by police as it was fleeing through town, reports the Idaho State Journal.

Pocatello Police Chief Scott Marchand said the 1,000-pound animal rammed an animal control truck and two police cars during the pursuit.

The incident began Friday after a cow jumped over a 6-foot fence as it was being prepared for slaughter at Anderson Custom Pack.

It ran through several backyards before being shot in the head by a police officer.

Rather than go down, the cow bolted past police cars that had been parked to pen the animal.

Officers and animal control units chased the animal through the streets for several more minutes before it was cornered again in another yard. An officer fired at the cow’s head, this time killing it.
